NOTED. CELEBRATED.

For nearly 150 years, Brantford has been one of Canada’s most noted, and celebrated, member golf clubs.

A CANADIAN CLASSIC.

The current golf course is situated on land that housed nine holes that opened in 1906. However, it was the Thompson brothers—Nicol, the main architect, and Stanley—who are the visionaries behind the foundation of the modern course, refining the existing work and adding another nine holes. “Brantford feels like classic, country golf . . . as if you’ve been transplanted to years long lost—everything about the course is understated and underrated,” says Canadian Golf Magazine

Built on a rolling, rambling property, Brantford is a course that continues to be a joy to play. With holes overlooking the valley housing the Grand River, while others slink up hillsides towards near-perfect greensites, it takes a lifetime of play to sort out the course’s challenges.

“What was done to the Nicol Thompson, George Cumming and Stanley Thompson design, the fourth oldest golf club in North America, is exceptional. It’s a case study for returning a classic course to its glory days.”

RENOVATED. RESTORED.

In 2021, Brantford moved forward with a bold plan to rejuvenate the course under the direction of noted golf architects Rod Whitman and Keith Cutten. By improving turf conditions, installing a new irrigation system, rebuilding bunkers and several greens, Whitman and Cutten have returned Brantford to the cohesive masterpiece it once was. Praise for the work has been universal: “Using sophisticated, classic concepts, Brantford is now back at the forefront of Canadian Golf,” says Beyondthecontour.com.

“Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith,” wrote Garry McKay in the Hamilton Spectator. “Brantford Golf and Country Club did that and it has worked out amazingly well.”
